In 3,849 winning hands of bot play on this site, Three Concealed Pungs appeared 4 times (0.10%) — a small sample that only shows it is rare. The bots prefer claimed chow-based 8-point routes; concealed pungs must be drawn, not claimed, so human players who deliberately keep pungs closed will see it more.
How to build Three Concealed Pungs
- Many pairs at the start: with three or four pairs, don't pung — draw them yourself and the concealed pungs come.
- Don't pung if you can help it: a claimed pung is exposed; keep the pairs and draw.
- Prefer a single or edge wait at the end: with a two-pair wait, a win on a discard turns that pung exposed; if your three concealed pungs are already complete, wait on something else.
- Add All Pungs: make the fourth set a pung too for 22 points and up.
