One Voided Suit in Chinese Official Mahjong (MCR): Points, Examples and Rules
In Chinese Official Mahjong, One Voided Suit (缺一门) is worth 1 point: your winning hand is missing exactly one of the three suits — for example only characters and bamboo, not a single dot. Honors don't matter either way.

The rules for One Voided Suit
- Exactly two of the three suits appear; the third has no tiles at all
- Honors are optional
- Claimed and kong sets count together with your hand
- Only one suit may be missing: with two missing (one suit left) it's Half Flush or Full Flush, not this fan
When One Voided Suit is not counted
- Half Flush (one suit plus honors) and Full Flush: two suits are missing, so they don't qualify
- Reversible Tiles (8 points): its tiles are only dots, bamboo and White Dragon, and the rules say it doesn't also count One Voided Suit
- One-suit big fan such as Nine Gates, Seven Shifted Pairs and Pure Terminal Chows don't count it either

One Voided Suit and the 8-point minimum
It's a cheap point. Hands that need all three suits (Mixed Straight, Mixed Triple Chow) can't have it, but with Pure Shifted Chows, Pure Straight or All Pungs you often get it just by discarding the third suit. One point short of 8? Check whether the suit you hold least of is down to one or two tiles — throwing them may be enough.
In 4,000 simulated hands between the site's computer players, One Voided Suit appeared in 11% of winning hands, averaging 21.1 points. Play MCR online and try it.
One Voided Suit in other mahjong styles
In Sichuan mahjong, voiding a suit is a rule: you declare one suit at the start and may not hold it when you win, and it adds nothing (Sichuan mahjong Ping Hu). In MCR it's an optional 1-point fan.
