Melded Hand (Quan Qiu Ren) in Chinese Official Mahjong (MCR): Points and Rules
In Chinese Official Mahjong, Melded Hand (全求人) is worth 6 points: all four sets are claimed — chows, pungs or exposed kongs — only one tile is left in your hand as a single wait, and you win on someone else's discard to make the pair.

The rules for Melded Hand
- All four sets were claimed by chow, pung or exposed kong (adding to a pung counts) — no concealed kong, no set formed in hand
- One tile left, waiting to make the pair
- You win on a discard; robbing a kong counts too
- A self-drawn win isn't Melded Hand: with all four sets exposed, a self-draw only scores small fan like Single Wait and Self-Drawn
What Melded Hand no longer counts
- Single Wait (1 point): Melded Hand is always a single wait, so it's not counted again.
- No Concealed Hand or Fully Concealed, of course — everything was claimed.
Everything else still counts: dragon and wind pungs, Pung of Terminals or Honors and Melded Kong in your exposed sets, and patterns across the four sets (All Pungs, Half Flush, Mixed Triple Chow, Mixed Straight…).

How it relates to other fan
- Fully Concealed Hand: the exact opposite — nothing claimed, self-drawn, 4 points.
- Single Wait: Melded Hand is always a single wait, so Single Wait is absorbed.
- All Pungs: four punged sets score both, 12 points together.
- All Chows, All Simples: four chows and a middle-tile pair put Melded Hand past 8.
- Half Flush: claim your way through one suit plus honors for 12 points.
Melded Hand odds
Melded Hand needs four claims and then a single wait won on a discard, so the site's AI rarely gets there playing normally: in 4,000 hands only 5 of 3,849 wins had it — far too few to give a rate.
When Melded Hand happens
- Your hand keeps relying on others: three sets claimed already, and the four tiles left contain a partial set that can be claimed again — that's how you end up on a single wait.
- The extra points come from the exposed sets: dragon and wind pungs, All Pungs, Half Flush are all decided when you claim; the last tile only makes the pair.
- Risk: with one tile in hand you can't defend. If you're still far from 8, don't make the fourth claim just for Melded Hand.

FAQ
How many points is Melded Hand?
Melded Hand is worth 6 points in Chinese Official Mahjong, and Single Wait is not counted again. With the 8-point minimum you need 2 more.
Does a self-drawn win count as Melded Hand?
No. Melded Hand must be won on a discard; self-drawing after exposing all four sets only scores small fan like Single Wait and Self-Drawn.
Does a concealed kong break Melded Hand?
Yes. All four sets must be "asked for" from others — chows, pungs or exposed kongs; a concealed kong is built from your own draws, so the hand isn't Melded Hand.
